Whether you're starting an online shop or a specific service, everyone needs a check list when it comes to creating their business! Some folks out there may not be into lists, however, this will help you organize your goals and determine top priorities. So, let's get started!

When starting your own business, sometimes the first few steps will seem a little daunting. Once you take those first few steps, you get things rolling and your business starts coming together! When starting Collectively You, I had started taking large bites that were tough to chew. I had to pause, take a step back and write out a list of all the things I wanted to get done. Here is what I wrote down:
- Business Name
- Domain ownership
- Logo creation
- Select a website to create my shop
- Create shop
- Determine products
- Product Photography Shoot
- Social Media account creation
- Shipping information
- Policy information
- Legal information for my business
- Pricing for products
- Purchasing security for customers
- Marketing Tactics
- Shipping products with branding
- Ad spend budgets
- Email Marketing
- Social Media Post calendar
-Launch
Yes, this is a lot. BUT don't let it frighten you. We are going to break it down. Everyone's schedule is different. You might have more free time during the day or at evening, you might have to focus on your business on the weekends so you can focus on other things during the week, or you might have the spare time to sit down and create. No matter your situation, you know your schedule. So, set a good pace!
For myself, I had to break my list into pieces and then determine a date when I wanted it done. No, I didn't give myself a super hard or strict deadline...because then you start losing the joy and fun out of what you're making. Instead, I gave myself a lot of time. That way I wouldn't be stressed or rushed.
For example:
Get done in 1 month
- Business Name
- Domain ownership
- Logo creation
- Select a website to create my shop
Get done in 3 months
- Create shop
- Determine products
Get done in 1 month
- Product Photography Shoot
- Social Media account creation
Get done in 1 month
- Shipping information
- Policy information
- Legal information for my business
- Pricing for products
- Purchasing security for customers
Get done in 2 months
- Marketing Tactics
- Shipping products with branding
- Ad spend budgets
- Email Marketing
- Social Media Post calendar
Get done in 1 month
- Launch
If you do the math, that's 9 months to get my shop together before launch. In all reality, it took roughly 8-9 months! I was so happy because I set realistic goals for myself and knocked out these tasks in a timely manner. Plus, not being rushed gave me the freedom to not only enjoy what I was doing, but have the understanding that some tasks needed to change. . . and I had time to change them!
Again, do what's right for you. You know your schedule, you know your bandwidth, you got this!
